What is the card upgrade?
The card upgrade is a free, essential update that gets your card ready for Apple Pay and future improvements. It helps deliver:
Global reach: Improved compatibility with merchants across the globe.
Extended validity: A brand-new card number with a new 3-year expiration date.
Apple Pay compatibility: Seamlessly pay with your iPhone or Apple Watch.
What is the card upgrade?
Do I need to upgrade my card?
To use Apple Pay, some existing cards must be upgraded first. If the app prompts you, please complete the free card upgrade first to ensure a seamless connection to your Apple devices.
Timeline: Upgrade invitations will be sent out gradually between January 15 and March 31.
Notifications: We will gradually send app notifications to eligible users. If you don't see the option yet, please keep your app updated and your notifications on.
Important reminders
Card deactivation: Your old card will be deactivated immediately after the upgrade.
Action required: Unlink your old card from merchants and payment platforms, then link your new card to avoid payment issues.
