A declined payment can be frustrating, especially when a fee is charged. Most declines happen for a handful of common reasons. Here's how to prevent them.
Keep enough balance for the transaction
Your card will be declined if your account balance doesn't cover the payment — including network and processing fees.
Always keep a small buffer above the purchase amount. For example, if you're paying 100 USD, having exactly 100 USD in your account may not be enough once fees are added.
Enable low balance alerts so you're notified before your balance runs low. See How Do I Turn On Low Balance Alerts?
Manage your subscriptions
Merchants with saved card details (Netflix, Spotify, iCloud, cloud storage, AI tools, and similar services) will continue to charge you automatically. If your card is frozen, lost, deleted, expired, or has insufficient funds at the time of the charge, the transaction will be declined — and a fee may apply.
When you stop using a service, remove your card details from the merchant's site directly, not just from RedotPay.
Review your active subscriptions regularly.
Check your card status
Your card must be active to work. It may be declined if it's been frozen, deleted, expired, or reported as lost.
You can check your card status anytime in the RedotPay app under Card.
Check your settings before you pay
Your payment can be declined if your card settings don't match the transaction. Before paying, confirm:
The crypto assets you want to use are enabled as payment options.
The local currency of the merchant is enabled on your card.
The transaction type is enabled (for example, online, in-store, ATM).
Your transaction doesn't exceed your card's single-transaction or daily limit.
Use supported merchants
RedotPay cards work with most merchants worldwide, but some merchants or transaction types aren't supported. If you're unsure, try a smaller test transaction first.
About declined transaction fees
If your payment is declined, a small decline fee may apply. This fee helps cover the cost of processing the attempted transaction with the card network. You can avoid decline fees by following the tips above — especially keeping enough balance and managing your subscriptions.
